Party banners are an integral part of every festivity, yet how does one transform standard banners into Keepsake Party Banners?

On a general basis, Keepsake Party Banners are personalized. Insert the guest of honor's name whenever possible, and make the greeting included on the banner as warm and genuine as possible ("Good luck Sam," "Happy Birthday Dale," "Congratulations Tom and Sally," etc.) Remember writing messages in your high school yearbook, well doing the same with a party banner will make it as memorable as possible, as would adding a picture of the guest of honor.

Keepsake banners are not normally the "made out of printer paper" type, often they are professionally printed on plastic or vinyl. Having the banner made from vinyl or plastic and professionally done will make it even more special for the guest of honor and significantly increase its longevity as a memento.

There is however definitely something to be said for the depth of feeling that goes into making a party banner the old fashion way, When a 5-year-old scrawls "Happy Birthday, Mommy" in crayon across a banner, he/she will transform that banner into an automatic keepsake; what mother would want to throw that away? Or if someone adorns a bridal shower banner with a lovely array of hand painted florals, or with adornments like lace, paste on flowers, glitter, stars, etc., he/she can create a work of art for posterity.

The more durable the material a banner is made from the better its chances of surviving. Regardless of how beautiful or meaningful a banner may be, if it is mounted with the use of thin, flimsy paper that is easily torn or smeared, it is not likely to last long enough to be considered a keepsake.

When buying or making a party banner, the host should choose heavy, high quality paper stock, sturdy, durable plastic, or virtually any type of fabric; depending on the budget, she could use cotton, satin, layered tissue or tulle, or even silk. No matter what the material used for the banner, make sure that it is easily folded, as well as stain- and weather-resistant.

During the party, Keepsake Party Banners should be posted high above the party site, away from prying hands as well as children and animals.People of all ages just can't resist touching or handling something that they shouldn't, not to mention Fido and Fluffy; so hang the banner out of the reach of well meaning but prying fingers and paws. Encourage guests to look but keep touching to a minimum, reminding everyone that this is a special banner that you plan to keep for years to come.

After the party, store the Keepsake Party Banners in a cool, dry place, again away from pets and children. At the same time, remember that you are keeping this banner as a treasured memento. One more thing; be sure to take a picture of the banner so you have a photo should anything happen to the original and bring it out at future celebrations or just to look at it and remember. After all, that's what keepsakes are for!
