Many tourists flock to Hawaii especially for the Big Island golf courses and sports. Indeed the big island is home to some of the world's finest and most exclusive golf courses and the salubrious weather makes playing on them a real pleasure.

The sunniest part of Hawaii, the Kona Coast, offers much in the way of Big Island golf resorts and sports. Here 13 superb golf resorts are laid out, over the 40 mile stretch between Kona Country club and the Mauna Kea resort. 4 of these are actually up in the hills and go as high as 4200 feet above sea level.

In 1964 Mauna Kea opened many doors for the Big Island golf courses and sports. It remained over the years as one of the more admired ones too despite being temporarily shut down in 2006 after being affected by an earthquake.

The Hualalai Resort is famous among the Big Island golf resorts and sports. However be aware that the Nicklaus course is semi-private and you can only gain access if you are a guest at the Four Seasons Resort, Hualalai.

The Mauna Lani Resort is another one of the gorgeous Big Island's golf resorts. It is well known for its signature par-3 15th and 7th hole. When vacationing in Hawaii, if you are up for some really challenging holes though head for the Waikoloa Beach resort, where the course artfully designed by Robert Trent Jr. is sure to delight the avid golfer.

All of these Big Island golf resorts and sports mentioned so far are the more exclusive ones, with green fees being quite a bit on the higher side. You can expect to shell out anything between $140 - $250 per round at these courses. The Hamakua country club however falls on the other end of the spectrum with green fees as little as $15 per round. It is a typical 18-hole course with no club house but still if you are a little tight on the cash then it is a good bargain. If you are willing to part with a little more then you could consider the Hilo Municipal resort or the volcano golf and country club.

Follow these tips about the Big Island golf courses and sports to save a little money on your vacation. Try to make it to the course on weekdays rather than weekends. Also afternoon fees tend to be lower than that on the mornings. Some courses even offer twilight fees. Lastly check with the resorts. Many of them have tie ups with the courses and might offer discounts.

And have a wonderful vacation on the Big Island with their golf resorts and sports.
