When you are planning a celebration you want party supplies to keep the event cost down. There are several ways to do this and still have a great party or celebration. Start by planning everything in advance. For the most part, people are buying party supplies in advance and saving them for special events or occasion. Many people find they can save a great deal of money and time by purchasing store brands.

For example buying discounted solid red or green napkins after Christmas means that you will have pretty red napkins for Valentine's Day and lovely green ones for St. Patrick's Day. The same in true for plates and cups. Right after Easter you may find pastel party supplies on sale that would be perfect for Mother's Day or a baby shower. If you have a definite party in mind then there are certain things to decide before you purchase party supplies. When deciding on the best party supplies, you, the hostess will need to decide what should be purchased and in what quantity. Therefore, by doing a lot of preplanning, you can save a lot of money on party supplies that may be on sale. Be sure to get enough of any sale item including a few extras because you may not be able to go back in a few weeks to get more. Pick your party colors and decide if the party supplies have to have the theme on them. More often than not, you will find that solid color party supplies and accessories will be much cheaper than those that are designed.

For party supplies to keep the event cost down, think homemade. A sheet of scrapbook paper with a design on it can be cut into several place cards. You can also make homemade party favors. For lovely cone shaped party favors you will need scrapbook paper, a hole punch, ribbon, double sided tape, tulle material, candy and scissors. Cut a fan shaped piece of scrapbook paper, roll it into a cone shape and tape using double sided tape. Punch small holes in two opposite sides of the cone near the open end, put hole protectors from an office supply store over the holes on the inside of the cone to make them stronger. Thread a ribbon through the two holes, tying a knot on the inside of the cone to hold the ribbon. Now cut circles from tulle and fill the circles with candy, then tie with a ribbon and place inside the cone. Many people coordinate the scrapbook paper with the ribbon to give the party favors a polished look. Dangles hanging from the ceiling look great at a party. Homemade dangles can be made by using curly ribbon. Tie several pieces of curly ribbon together with a bow and hang the homemade dangles from the ceiling. Balloons with designs look great at a party but to keep the cost down use solid color balloons in pretty colors. Try using a glue stick to lightly spread a little glue on a balloon after it has been blown up and then sprinkle glitter on it. These are all ways that a little creativity can keep the cost of an event down.
